CEO Chris Gauld presents Georgina with a bottle of fizz for taking the first call of the night.
Here at Spark we always like to give a bit back to the communities we’re involved in.
Last Friday evening 80 staff came volunteered to come in and man the phones for a night of taking calls and raising money for charity.
Some chose to dress up in… erm…. sporting attire!
We ordered pizza and played games while raising funds for the worthwhile cause, Sports Relief.
Together we fielded calls all night and played our part in raising over £55 million on the night.
It was great fun!
Sport Relief is a nationwide campaign to get active, raise cash and change lives. Half of all the money the public raises is spent by Comic Relief in the UK, with the other half used to make a difference in the world’s poorest communities. Since 2002, Sport Relief has received over £262 million in donations.
Deelyboppers were mandatory!
Much of the work the charity undertakes is to give extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people a helping hand to turn their lives around.
We’re really pleased by the enthusiasm the team has shown to get involved in the call-handling and it’s great for us be able to put our customer service skills to another purpose.
Not all volunteers were on the phones, there was a big support crew too!
Giving back to the local community is something we take extremely seriously as a business and no doubt we’ll do a great job on the night.
