For BBC’s Panorama, Mariella Frostrup looked into the changing world of property ownership versus home rental.
She found that 10 years ago, according to the English Housing Survey, 59% of 25 to 34 year-olds owned their own home in England – now it’s 36%. What are they doing instead? They’re renting from private landlords – 21% were doing that 10 years ago, now it’s 48%.
It’s obvious from this that for many people in the UK, rental is where it’s going to be at for many years to come.
